A random collection of stuff mostly about Microsoft, technology, privacy, and the law
January 31st, 2012
As an analyst for Directions on Microsoft covering the Windows OS, patents, and miscellaneous IT issues, every day I read and analyze a large number of articles, stories, blogs and other opinions from a variety of sources.
These sources are the raw input of analysis, which has to be read and evaluated. They have to be compared against other information. Some may be important—most are not. Some may be interesting—most are not. Some may be facts—most are rumors. Some may affect and change my opinion—most will not.
So, think about these articles as pieces of a special jigsaw puzzle: Put them together one way and you’ll get one picture. Put them together another way, you’ll get another picture. Save a piece for a couple of days, and use it with the new pieces for yet another picture.
None of the pictures is correct—just different.
Welcome to analysis!
